Job Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- one to two years of related employment experience
- knowledge of cooking practices and kitchen procedures
- ability to perform non-repetitive analytical work
- ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- good communication skills
- physical ability to perform essential job functions
Job Duties
- Check all items against the recipe cards
- verify that use records are followed for all items served
- ensure food is presented efficiently and with quality
- monitor line setup before meal functions to maximize efficiency
- oversee equipment maintenance and kitchen cleanliness
- prepare food following recipe cards and portion standards
- start food items ahead of time without over-preparing
- date and rotate food containers per SOP
- maintain proper food temperatures
- check pars and determine necessary preparation
- note out-of-stock items or shortages
- assist in buffet stocking
- return unused food items to storage with proper coverage and dating
- assist in addressing food cost problems and controlling waste as per SOP
