This role is for a Cleaning Supervisor who will have the critical responsibility of overseeing and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining the premises of commercial and industrial buildings. The supervisor will play a vital role in planning, directing, and evaluating cleaning operations to meet established standards and specifications. Key responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training cleaning staff to ensure they are qualified and equipped to perform their duties effectively. The supervisor will also be responsible for appraising employee performance, administering rewards and disciplinary actions, addressing complaints, and resolving problems to foster a positive and productive work environment.

This cleaning supervisor position offers scheduled shifts either from 6am to 2:30pm for the first shift or 3pm to 11:30pm for the second shift, providing a degree of flexibility for candidates. Working in this managerial capacity requires a hands-on approach, including occasionally performing cleaning tasks and selecting the appropriate cleaning materials for different surfaces and areas. The supervisor must coordinate with other departments to ensure services are timely and efficient, inspect work to ensure compliance with quality standards, investigate complaints about services and equipment, and ensure all cleaning equipment is functioning correctly.

Given the physical nature of this role, candidates must be prepared to work under conditions involving wet or humid environments, exposure to potentially hazardous fumes, toxic chemicals, and varying outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. The role demands regular physical activity such as standing, walking, climbing, and lifting loads of up to 50 pounds. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in supervisory practices, safety competencies, and customer service, along with practical experience in cleaning or maintenance work.

Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Physical ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Willingness to work first or second shift (6am-2:30pm or 3pm-11:30pm)
  • Ability to work in wet, humid, and high-noise environments
  • Ability to instruct and supervise a team effectively

  • Check equipment to ensure that it is in working order
  • Instruct staff in work policies and procedures and the use and maintenance of equipment
  • Perform or assist with cleaning duties as necessary
  • Select the most suitable cleaning materials for different types of linens, furniture, flooring, and surfaces
