Job Description
Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) is a Fortune 100 home improvement company, recognized as a leading retailer serving millions of customers each week across the United States. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, Lowe's operates over 1,700 stores, 530 branches, and 130 distribution centers, employing approximately 300,000 associates nationwide. The company’s mission centers on supporting communities by promoting safe and affordable housing, enhancing neighborhood spaces, fostering the development of skilled tradespeople, and providing disaster relief when needed. Lowe's commitment to customer service excellence and community support has established it as a trusted brand in the home improvement sector.
This Customer Service Assistant (CSA) Front End Team role at Lowe's is designed for individuals passionate about delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. The primary responsibility is to provide SMART customer service, aligning with Lowe's customer service policies, procedures, and programs daily. The CSA engages actively with customers, helping them locate, understand, and select products, and offering project guidance to enhance their shopping experience. This role involves direct merchandising support, including demonstrating products, assisting with carrying and loading merchandise, and communicating vital product information—including features, benefits, warranty details, and stock availability—to customers.
The position also emphasizes coaching and developing other associates, providing valuable feedback and training in departmental duties and sales opportunities. A critical component of the CSA role includes handling transactions at the cash register efficiently and accurately, processing sales, returns, and refunds while ensuring all company guidelines are followed. The role requires meticulous attention to detail with monetary transactions, including managing proper change, conducting cash counts, and daily reconciliation duties.
Operational responsibilities extend to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe store environment. This includes adherence to safety protocols such as top-stock safety measures, usage of safety cables, aisle blockers, and ensuring aisles remain clear to prevent accidents. The CSA is also expected to operate various store equipment like cash recyclers, paging systems, CCTV surveillance, panel saws, and paint mixers as relevant to their department. Security vigilance plays a vital role in this position, with responsibilities including monitoring store entrances and exits, detecting shoplifting or other security risks, and promptly reporting issues to management or Asset Protection.
Lowe's fosters a culture of growth and development, encouraging CSAs to expand their skills and career progression within the company. The role offers invaluable retail experience in customer service, sales, supervisory tasks, and operational management. Through hands-on training and in-store experience, associates gain expertise in retail operations along with exposure to leadership responsibilities such as coaching team members and managing store safety and security.
Emphasizing a diverse and inclusive workplace, Lowe’s administers all personnel practices without discrimination, welcoming applicants regardless of race, gender, disability, age, or other legally protected statuses. This role offers a supportive environment where associates are valued for their contributions and encouraged to grow their careers in the home improvement industry.
