Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous retail, book sales, or customer service experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency beneficial
- Ability to work flexible part-time schedules
- Commitment to excellent customer service
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Physical stamina to meet Group U requirements
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated retail experience or relevant experience in book sales or customer service
- Strong customer service skills and a passion for books and reading
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Competence in using retail technology and software systems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Physical ability to meet Group U requirements
- Problem-solving skills (Generalist II)
- Experience in training and mentoring staff (Generalist II)
Job Duties
- Provide excellent customer service and uphold Powell's customer service standards
- Communicate effectively with teammates, supervisors, and departments to ensure smooth store operations
- Perform cashiering duties including processing sales, returns, and maintaining accurate cash handling
- Merchandize and maintain section organization, including shelving, labels, and displays
- Participate in inventory management tasks such as cycle counting, data entry, and receiving products
- Assist with training new employees and serve as a resource for staff (Generalist II)
- Apply visual presentation principles to merchandising and displays
- Identify opportunities for improving store processes and problem-solve solutions (Generalist II)
- Participate in running errands, transfers, and order processing
- Adhere to safety and sanitation protocols within the work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by department managers
