Job Description
The InterContinental Hotels Group, commonly known as IHG, is a global leader in the hospitality industry, operating a diverse portfolio of hotel brands across the world. With over 370,000 colleagues spread across 100 countries, IHG prides itself on delivering exceptional guest experiences through innovation, collaboration, and dedication. IHG's commitment to creating memorable moments for every guest starts from the moment they step through the doors of any of their hotels.
This position is for a Front Desk Agent role at IHG, an integral part of the hospitality experience. As a Front Desk Agent, you will be the first point of contact for guests, responsible for welcoming them warmly and ensuring a seamless check-in and check-out process. You will manage guest bookings, upselling opportunities, and engage with guests to enhance their stay by providing local insights and anticipating their needs. Part of your responsibilities includes handling payments, both cash and credit transactions, as well as controlling and releasing safety deposit boxes.
The role requires excellent communication skills to interact effectively with guests, whether addressing concerns or sharing compliments. Your problem-solving abilities will be key to turning challenges into positive experiences, ensuring each guest departs with lasting great memories. Fluency in the local language is essential, while additional language skills are beneficial. Literacy and tech-savviness are necessary to handle administrative tasks, including reservation management and other computer-related functions.
Flexibility is vital, as the job involves working shifts that may vary across seven days a week, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. Physical strength is also important, as the role may involve lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. While a high school diploma or equivalent qualification is required, a college or university degree is a plus but not mandatory. Ideally, candidates should bring at least one year of previous experience in front desk or guest services.
The hourly wage for this position is $17.75, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package. These benefits include paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, a 401k retirement plan, and additional perks available to eligible employees. IHG is dedicated to fostering an inclusive work environment, encouraging candidates who may not meet every criterion to apply and embark on a rewarding career path.
Working as a Front Desk Agent at IHG entails being the face of the brand, acting as a trusted contact for guests, and maintaining a safe environment by following established safety procedures and reporting any incidents. You will also stay informed about daily events and activities to better assist guests and be ready to support your colleagues with additional duties as needed. This role offers an opportunity to develop professionally while creating unforgettable experiences for guests worldwide.
