Job Description

We are currently seeking a Front Desk Receptionist to join our vibrant team. This in-office role is integral to the smooth functioning of our front office operations. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for guests, responsible for greeting and communicating cordially in a prompt and professional manner. They will assist with the check-in and check-out processes, manage reservations including pre-registration and room blocking, and accurately handle all financial transactions.

The Front Desk Receptionist must have a thorough understanding of the front office computer system or manual procedures, including all typical daily transactions and less common tasks. Handling cash, credit card transactions, and checks with accuracy and efficiency is essential. Knowledge of hotel rates, discounts, reservation procedures including last-minute bookings, and cancellation and relocation protocols will be critical to excel in this role.

This position demands excellent customer service skills and a team-oriented mindset, as well as a high level of work ethic and self-initiative. Candidates should expect to work varied schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of our guests. Physical demands include prolonged periods of sitting, occasional standing and walking, and the ability to perform fine motor tasks such as typing and using office equipment. The role requires effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage physical tasks like lifting up to 25 pounds.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a hotel front desk or hospitality role preferred
  • Ability to work varied schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods, approximately 6-8 hours a day
  • Ability to stand and walk occasionally throughout the workday
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks such as typing and using office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to lift and/or move 10-25 pounds as needed
  • Ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials
  • Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a hotel front desk or hospitality role preferred
  • Knowledge of front office systems and reservation procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work varied schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Basic math and cash handling skills
  • Ability to use computer systems efficiently and accurately

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate cordially with guests, promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel
  • Assist in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary
  • Promptly, accurately and efficiently know how and where to post all charges
  • Have complete working knowledge of Front Office computer or manual system, including all daily transactions and those which are not performed often
  • Accurately manage cash handling, including receiving cash, checks and credit card information from guests for payment of hotel charges and making change correctly
  • Review any reservations with special requests and work to block rooms accordingly
  • Have knowledge of hotel rates, discounts and how to handle each
  • Have working knowledge of reservations and procedures, including how to take same day reservations
  • Should be able to take reservations in approximately 2 minutes
  • Know and follow cancellation procedures and relocation procedures when necessary
