With a reputation for quality care and patient safety, Rochester General Hospital emphasizes not just clinical excellence but also the importance of supporting services that enhance patient wellness and comfort.
The Food and Nutrition Services department at Rochester General Hospital plays a vital role in patient care by ensuring that all patients, residents, and customers receive nutritious, well-prepared meals that meet specific dietary requirements. The Food Service Associate position is a per diem role, requiring flexible hours with shifts from 3:45 PM to 7:30 PM including weekend rotations. The role focuses on the preparation, assembly, and delivery of meals while adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation standards. This position is essential in maintaining the quality and accuracy of meal services, directly contributing to patient satisfaction and overall hospital operations.
As a Food Service Associate, employees are responsible for the timely and organized assembly of meals in alignment with menu and diet specifications. This includes handling food safely and practicing proper sanitation methods throughout food preparation and service. The associate will also operate dish room equipment, assist with inventory organization, and deliver food carts while maintaining excellent customer relations on the hospital units. This role requires careful attention to detail and dedication to maintaining a clean and safe working environment, as well as the ability to use food service equipment safely following manufacturer guidelines and safety data sheets.
Additionally, the Food Service Associate will partake in regular staff meetings and training to stay updated on best practices in food safety and service. A key certification required for this role, particularly for those involved in specific programs like ElderOne, is a valid American National Standards Institute accredited Food Safety Certification, such as ServSafe or NRFSP, to be obtained within three months of hire. This certification ensures that all associates are knowledgeable about food safety regulations and standards.
The hourly pay range for this position is between $16.00 and $17.25, reflecting the importance of this role within the hospital's multidisciplinary team. This range is subject to change based on experience, qualifications, and other factors. Rochester Regional Health is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion, providing a respectful and supportive work environment for all employees. Overall, the Food Service Associate position offers an opportunity to be part of a respected healthcare institution where nutrition and patient wellbeing are prioritized alongside clinical care.
