Gordon Food Service Store LLC is a prominent retail division of Gordon Food Service, one of North America's leading foodservice distributors. Located at 5440 N Main St, Mishawaka, Indiana, this store operates within a network of over 170 stores, which provide essential supplies to small food service operators, families, non-profit organizations, caterers, and a diverse range of customers. The company is well-known for championing a "Customer is King" philosophy and setting high standards for customer satisfaction in the retail industry. This dedication extends into fostering development opportunities and promoting a balanced work environment for its employees.
The Part Time Food Production Associate role at Gordon Food Service Store offers a vibrant work atmosphere where no two days are the same. With store hours Monday through Saturday from 7 AM to 8 PM and Sundays from 9 AM to 6 PM, the store also observes major holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, and Easter, ensuring employees enjoy these important days off. The pay rate ranges from $12 to $15 per hour, reflecting competitive wages in the retail sector. This position is ideal for individuals seeking meaningful employment that encourages growth with high internal promotion rates and development programs, making it an excellent opportunity for career advancement.
In this role, an associate will engage in diverse food production tasks that require attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to multitask. Responsibilities include preparing sliced meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches and wraps, and juicing fresh ingredients for customer beverages. Safety and sanitation are paramount, and all food safety protocols must be rigorously followed. Associates will also take part in using equipment such as the rotisserie oven and broaster to prepare various cooked items including chicken tenders, wings, fish, and potato wedges. Managing food temperature readings and oil changes in cooking devices is also a core part of the job. Though food preparation experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, highlighting the company’s willingness to train motivated individuals.
Gordon Food Service Store values a supportive culture where employee well-being matters, providing numerous benefits to eligible employees. These include profit sharing and a 401(k) plan, employee assistance programs, mental health support available through ComPsych 24/7, and exclusive employee discounts. Additional perks such as health insurance, dental and vision coverage, short and long-term disability insurance, paid time off, flexible schedules, maternity leave, and child and elder care assistance showcase the comprehensive nature of the company's benefits package. The store also emphasizes a drug-free, tobacco-free workplace and is committed to equality and respect, ensuring a safe environment for all employees regardless of background.
