The City of Grove City is currently seeking a part-time Facility Housekeeper who will play an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of multiple city-owned buildings and venues. This position operates under the supervision of the Facilities Housekeeping Coordinator and involves performing a variety of custodial duties to ensure environments are sanitary, orderly, and prepared for both daily operations and special events. The Facility Housekeeper will execute routine cleaning tasks such as trash removal, restroom sanitization, floor care including mopping and vacuuming, window washing, and furniture cleaning. Additionally, the role requires operating power cleaning equipment like carpet extractors and floor buffers, as well as performing minor maintenance such as light bulb replacement and touch-up painting to support overall facility upkeep.
The position follows a weekly schedule of Monday through Wednesday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with a pay rate of $17.85 per hour. Candidates who are self-motivated, able to work independently, and capable of interacting professionally with city officials and the public are encouraged to apply. The ideal applicant will have completed secondary education (high school diploma or GED), possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with insurability under the city's vehicle insurance policy, and hold one to three years of experience in facility services, custodial, or janitorial roles. Job Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have completed secondary education (high school diploma or GED)
- Possess a valid Ohio driver's license
- Be eligible and willing to undergo drug testing in accordance with City policy
- Have one to three years of experience in facility services custodial or janitorial roles
- Demonstrate good verbal communication skills
- Maintain ability to work independently
- Be able to pass background checks
- Have access to personal transportation
- Ability to work Monday through Thursday early morning schedule
Job Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age and have completed secondary education (high school diploma or GED)
- Possess a valid Ohio driver's license and be able to qualify for and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy
- Demonstrate good verbal communication skills and interact professionally with City officials and the public
- Have one to three years of training education and experience in Facility Services custodial or janitorial roles
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of custodial methods equipment and materials
- General knowledge in computer operation and use of modern office equipment
Job Duties
- Perform basic cleaning procedures including trash removal cleaning waste receptacles wall and interior window washing furniture cleaning dust mopping wet mopping vacuuming cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replacing paper supplies
- Coordinate various professional services such as major carpet cleaning or facilities maintenance with the agency via the chain of command
- Perform cleaning of offices meeting rooms lobby areas hallways break rooms and stairways
- Perform complex cleaning procedures including stripping sealing waxing and buffing vinyl tile surfaces in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations
- Perform various levels of carpet cleaning in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations
- Operate power cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaner carpet extractor floor buffing machine and power washer
- Perform minor maintenance duties including replacing light bulbs and touch-up painting
- Maintain a written inventory of cleaning and paper supplies submit supply requests in a timely manner
- Assist in moving furniture loading and unloading of freight up to 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds assisted
- Attend work on a regular and predictable basis
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
- Obey and promptly execute the orders of the Administrative Assistant
