Job Description
The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and Expo Center is a premier event venue located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, known for hosting a diverse range of events including tradeshows, consumer events, private functions, and large-scale exhibitions. As a hub for community engagement and entertainment, the Coliseum and Expo Center bring together promoters, exhibitors, vendors, clients, and guests to create memorable and seamless event experiences. Established to support local, regional, and national events, the venue prides itself on state-of-the-art facilities, professional management, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. This dynamic environment fosters collaboration among various departments to ensure every event runs smoothly and exceeds expectations.
Under the guidance of the Senior Event Manager, the part-time Event Supervisor plays a crucial role in the successful execution of events held primarily at the Expo Conference Center and meeting rooms. This position features an event-based work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking flexible employment, such as retirees and students, or those looking for a second job. The employment type is part-time, and the role is classified as nonexempt and at-will in accordance with the policies outlined by the Board of Commissioners of Allen County.
The Event Supervisor oversees the coordination and supervision of activities involving promoters, exhibitors, vendors, as well as internal departments, ensuring compliance with venue policies, safety regulations, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include developing detailed room diagrams, assisting with event billing, supporting operational setups, and managing on-site communications. The role requires a proactive and meticulous individual capable of making decisions during high-pressure situations and emergencies to maintain a safe and efficient event environment. The Event Supervisor also acts as Manager on Duty when assigned, reinforcing leadership presence and operational oversight.
Key aspects of the role include conducting client tours to promote venue usage, facilitating digital signage for guest wayfinding, and assisting with administrative tasks such as data collection for annual rate updates and event documentation. The position demands a blend of interpersonal skills, technical knowledge—including proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and familiarity with event management software—and physical endurance to handle a variety of environments from office settings to event floors.
Candidates will benefit from engaging in a collaborative workplace culture that values clear communication, detailed planning, and operational excellence. The Event Supervisor works closely with senior management, operations staff, and external partners to deliver an outstanding event experience that enhances the reputation of the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and Expo Center. This role offers an opportunity to develop expertise in event management within a respected community venue while maintaining a flexible part-time schedule tailored to accommodate diverse lifestyles and commitments.
