The part-time Event Staff position at Destination El Paso is vital for the smooth operation of scheduled events, requiring a variety of responsibilities primarily centered around customer interaction and safety management. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of the event team, ensuring that patrons have a positive, safe experience throughout the event duration. Duties include directing patrons to appropriate locations such as concessions and restrooms, serving as ticket taker and usher, assisting with pre-event preparations, and managing accessibility needs for individuals requiring special accommodations. Additional responsibilities include crowd control, resolving issues and disturbances tactfully, and maintaining rigorous safety standards according to ASM Global’s guidelines. Event Staff members may also be called upon to assist with merchandise sales during shows and support colleagues by covering various positions to facilitate breaks. This position demands a strong commitment to customer service excellence, effective communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while addressing unexpected situations. Physically, the role necessitates stamina for extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting and involves exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments as well as irregular working hours. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year of customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate verbally
  • Ability to work irregular hours including nights and weekends
  • Ability to handle physical confrontations if necessary
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to use scheduling applications and follow guidelines

Job Duties

  • Provide customer service
  • Adhere to ASM Global procedures and policies
  • Assist and direct patrons to appropriate destinations
  • Serve as ticket taker and usher distributing programs and escorting patrons
  • Assist with pre-event set-up and preparation
  • Provide accommodations for handicapped patrons and special groups
  • Ensure safety of patrons, staff, vendors, and participants
  • Sell merchandise as requested
  • Assist in controlling emergencies such as fire or riots
  • Assist with crowd control inside and outside the venue
  • Handle disturbances and escort disruptive individuals if necessary
  • Report problems to Event Manager and Upper Level Management
  • Scan tickets and distribute wristbands or stamps
  • Fill in any event staff position as needed
  • Search for lost articles or parents of lost children
  • Give door checks to patrons temporarily leaving
  • Distribute programs or promotional items
  • Manage high-pressure situations calmly
  • Arrive on time and perform other duties as assigned
