Job Description

The role of Audience Services Manager is an integral part of the Minnesota Orchestra’s operations, directly contributing to the smooth execution of events and enhancing patron experiences. This part-time temporary position, spanning from September 2026 to June 2027, offers a competitive hourly wage ranging between $20 and $30, dependent on experience and qualifications. Reporting to the Director of Ticket and House Services, the Audience Services Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all aspects of the Audience Services Department during events, including ticketing, seating, patron services, and staff supervision. The manager is responsible for ensuring that all events are staffed appropriately and operate seamlessly, maintaining the highest standards of customer service and safety.
This role demands strong leadership skills to guide and motivate Audience Services staff, including Ticket Services, Stage Door, and House staff, creating an atmosphere of efficiency, courtesy, and professionalism. The manager coordinates with various teams to manage event conditions, emergency preparedness, sales reconciliation, and security needs. Additionally, the manager actively participates in department improvement initiatives and strategic planning meetings, contributing to the continuous enhancement of service quality and operational effectiveness.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- minimum 2 years personnel management experience
- minimum 2 years customer service or event management experience
- proficiency in typing and computer software/hardware usage
- knowledge of M365 and MS Office preferred
- ability to manage confidential information with integrity
- exceptional organizational skills
- strong time management skills
- ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively

Job Duties
- Ensure event is adequately and appropriately staffed
- reassign event responsibilities as necessary
- ensure event staff is informed of performance conditions
- manage courteous and efficient ticketing, seating, and patron service
- ensure adequate emergency medical treatment during events
- assist with overall event security
- reconcile event sales and inventory
- supervise Audience Services staff during events and shifts
- assess staff capabilities and determine staffing needs
- delegate department projects and monitor their completion
- address staff policy violations and conflicts with appropriate action
- ensure employee checkouts and cash banks are accurate and balanced
- provide input for staff evaluations
- update and remind staff of current products and policies
- maintain high standards of customer service
- uphold Audience Services standards of service, advocacy, efficiency, and courtesy
- recognize and resolve customer complaints appropriately
- identify recurring customer service issues and suggest solutions
- communicate policies and procedures fairly to customers
- provide backup support for staff and model urgency for service levels
- manage service provided by staff and intervene when necessary
- monitor event staff for customer service, efficiency, and accuracy
