Job Description
Cox Automotive is a leading company specializing in automotive services and solutions, focused on providing comprehensive services that support the automotive industry through technology, marketing, and operational excellence. As a reputable and forward-thinking company, Cox Automotive operates a variety of platforms and businesses that help dealers, manufacturers, and consumers to thrive in the automotive marketplace. With a commitment to innovation and customer service, Cox Automotive continues to be a top employer in the vehicle auction and automotive services sector, offering dynamic career opportunities for candidates who enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The role of Vehicle Mover at Cox Automotive is a crucial position responsible for the safe and efficient movement, staging, and parking of vehicles across auction properties and between customer businesses. This role involves driving vehicles through auction sale lanes on designated sale days, ensuring adherence to safety rules and auction regulations. The position demands excellent driving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, team leaders, dealers, and account representatives.
This job is scheduled for three to four days per week, primarily from Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm, with Wednesdays being a mandatory workday. The pay rate for this position is $14.85 per hour, with potential for additional compensation such as commissions or incentive programs depending on performance and business needs.
Vehicle Movers play a vital role in facilitating seamless vehicle handling during auctions, which directly impacts customer satisfaction and operational success. They are tasked with duties such as lining up vehicles as per the supervisor’s instructions, assisting with vehicle start-up through battery and tire maintenance when needed, and ensuring the visual and procedural compliance of vehicle placement throughout the auction process. The role requires physical stamina for activities like walking long distances, frequently entering and exiting vehicles, and lifting weights up to 15 pounds.
Safety is a major priority in this position, and the individual must consistently follow all safety and health procedures, actively participating in related activities to support Cox Automotive’s Safety Excellence standards. In addition to required responsibilities, the Vehicle Mover may also perform various other tasks as assigned by management and may occasionally need to work overtime to meet business demands.
Successful candidates should have a valid driver’s license, demonstrate strong defensive driving skills, and be capable of operating both standard and automatic transmission vehicles. While a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, previous auction experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
Cox Automotive offers a supportive work environment with benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement planning through a 401(k) program, and generous paid time off including sick leave, parental leave, flexible vacation or wellness days, and PTO. The work environment includes frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise levels, emphasizing a need for adaptability and resilience.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship. Cox Automotive is an equal opportunity employer, inclusive of individuals with disabilities and veterans, making it a welcoming workplace for diverse candidates seeking a fulfilling career in the automotive auction industry.
