Job Description

Cox is a well-established company known for operating vehicle auctions that facilitate the buying and selling of automobiles between dealers, account representatives, rental agencies, and customers. With a long-standing reputation in the automotive industry, Cox provides a professional, safe, and efficient environment for vehicle transactions. Operating dozens of auction locations nationwide, Cox combines comprehensive vehicle handling services with safety protocols to ensure smooth auction days and daily operations. At Cox, employees enjoy the stability of a reputable organization along with competitive compensation and a variety of employee benefits. The company is committed to fostering a safe work environment, continuous team collaboration, and delivering value to all stakeholders within the automotive ecosystem.

The role of the Vehicle Mover at Cox is critical to maintaining the flow of vehicle traffic and organization on auction premises. The position is a full-time, hourly role offered Monday through Thursday with shifts starting at 7 a.m. or 8 a.m. each day and concluding in the mid-afternoon. The pay rate is set at 18 dollars per hour, with opportunities for additional compensation such as commission or incentive programs based on performance. A Vehicle Mover is primarily responsible for safely driving vehicles through the auction lanes on sale days, staging and parking vehicles in designated areas, and transporting vehicles between auction lots and customer business locations. This position requires adherence to all Cox safety protocols and local traffic laws, ensuring the protection of vehicles, property, and people throughout the process.

Beyond vehicle movement, the Vehicle Mover assists in the operational readiness of vehicles by performing basic maintenance tasks including tire inflation and jump-starting vehicles when necessary. The role demands physical endurance to handle frequent entry and exit from vehicles, long walking distances across auction properties, and physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, and lifting weights between one and fifteen pounds. Eye-hand coordination and excellent visual acuity including depth perception, color vision, and focus adjustment are essential for success in this role. This opportunity offers hands-on experience in the automotive and auction industries, ideal for individuals who enjoy dynamic and physically active workplace environments.

Safety is paramount at Cox, with the Vehicle Mover expected to actively participate in safety initiatives and model healthy, safety-conscious behavior. The company supports employee well-being not only through extensive safety training but also via benefits including health care coverage, retirement planning options, and paid time off for sick leave, parental leave, and personal/wellness days. Additionally, Cox requires that all applicants are authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship. The company prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer that welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities or veterans.

Overall, this Vehicle Mover position offers a competitive hourly wage, stable work schedule, and comprehensive benefits within a reliable and widely respected automotive auction company. Candidates who bring a valid driver’s license, defensive driving skills, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety will thrive in this role, contributing to the seamless and safe operation of auction events and daily vehicle logistics.
