Cobb County emphasizes community welfare, inclusivity, and equal opportunity, making it a respected employer in the public sector offering meaningful careers aimed at public service and civic engagement.

The part-time driver position within Cobb County Senior Services is an integral role dedicated to supporting older adults by providing safe, reliable transportation to various locations such as senior centers, medical appointments, grocery stores, and other essential destinations both within and outside Cobb County. This part-time role involves working up to 29 hours per week, Monday through Friday, based on departmental scheduling needs. The driver is responsible not only for the safe operation of county vehicles but also for assisting seniors with mobility and comfort, fostering a compassionate and supportive experience for the community members served.

In this role, the driver will operate shuttle buses equipped with lifts, ensuring accessibility for seniors who may have limited mobility. Responsibilities include obeying all traffic laws, assisting clients on and off the vehicle, managing schedules, and communicating any changes in client health or behavior to the supervisor. Drivers will also need to conduct daily vehicle inspections to confirm safety standards are met, maintain cleanliness and fueling needs, and promptly report any maintenance concerns. Beyond transportation duties, the driver may also deliver supplies, food, and commodities to clients and senior centers, supporting broader efforts to meet the needs of older adults.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy driving, value community service, and want to make a positive impact on the lives of seniors. Ideal candidates will possess a valid driver’s license, experience in transportation services, and a willingness to participate in ongoing training such as Defensive Driving, CPR, and First Aid. The role demands physical stamina as it involves some moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 50 pounds and assisting elders with boarding and disembarking.

Cobb County Government fosters an inclusive, equal opportunity work environment, encouraging applications from qualified individuals regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, or any other legally protected status.
