The Dining Room Supervisor role at Avery Heights is a vital position responsible for overseeing the dining service and ensuring the highest quality of hospitality is consistently delivered. Reporting directly to the Director of Dining Services for Independent Living, this role carries the responsibility for daily meal service, coordinating special catered events, and maintaining the dining room operations at zero deficiency. The supervisor will ensure that all dining services meet or exceed the standards set by Church Homes, emphasizing professionalism, nutritionally sound meal options, and exemplary customer service. This position requires a positive and friendly attitude, a personal and humanistic approach to residents and staff, and the flexibility to assist with a variety of tasks to achieve excellence in service.
In this supervisory capacity, you will plan, organize, and coordinate all activities within The Heights dining room, including staffing and directing the dining room wait staff, preparing employee schedules, monitoring meal counts and special requests, and managing the budget for dining operations. You will also play an integral role in maintaining a sanitary and safe environment for all dining areas and workstations. The role demands strong leadership skills, a participative management style, and the ability to foster teamwork and staff development. Daily interaction with residents is key, as is collaborating with the Executive Chef to address feedback and continuously improve the dining experience.
Additionally, the Dining Room Supervisor is expected to uphold Avery Heights' personnel policies, promoting respect among colleagues and residents alike while adhering to ethical standards concerning conflicts of interest and financial transactions. The position demands physical, sensory, and cognitive capabilities, including the stamina to stand and move for extended periods, manual dexterity for office tasks, clear communication skills, and emotional stability to manage the demands and stresses of the job professionally.

Job Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma
- Three years experience in dining room service including two years supervisory experience
- Knowledge of food, wines and table service
- Compliance with credentialing requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Experience in training and developing staff
- Must be computer literate
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Plan, organize, staff, direct and coordinate all dining room activities at The Heights
- Assist the Director of Dining Room Services with bi-monthly employee schedule preparation
- Attend weekly departmental meetings and training sessions
- Maintain meal registers and submit monthly charges and credits
- Set up for special functions and activities
- Maintain good rapport with residents and consult with the Executive Chef on feedback
- Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in dining areas
- Ensure dining room staff adhere to side job schedules
- Ensure readiness for meal service and proper service during meal times
- Report to work on time and dressed appropriately
- Deliver dining room service consistent with fine hotel standards
- Operate within budget
- Continuously assess and improve resident satisfaction
- Plan and execute special functions
- Hire, discipline and evaluate dining staff
- Supervise all dining room wait staff
- Perform waitress duties during certain shifts
- Perform other duties as assigned
