The role of the Part-Time Day Porter is an essential position within SBM’s team, responsible for upholding the cleanliness and sanitary standards of assigned areas. This part-time position offers a competitive hourly wage of $13.00 to $14.00 and operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The day porter plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and pristine environment by performing janitorial duties, operating motorized cleaning equipment, maintaining daily upkeep, and adhering to safety protocols. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can work collaboratively with team members and respond professionally to supervisors, co-workers, and customers.
Beyond basic janitorial responsibilities, the day porter is expected to manage their assigned work area meticulously, report any incidents or hazardous conditions promptly, and comply fully with company policies and procedures. They support shift leads by assisting in completing punch-list tasks and may be required to fill in during staff shortages, demonstrating flexibility within the role.
Successful candidates should have some experience or training, typically 3 to 6 months, although no specific minimum education level is mandated. A valid driver’s license may be required, along with the possibility of forklift certification and other safety-related training. Essential skills include strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, knowledge of cleaning methods, safe chemical handling, and the operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment. Being bilingual is considered an asset, contributing positively to communication within a diverse work environment.
Physically, this role demands the ability to frequently sit, talk, listen, and lift or move up to 35 pounds, with accommodations made as needed for individuals with disabilities.
