The Cook position at Spring Arbor of Wilmington is a vital role responsible for preparing food that not only meets the highest standards of quality and taste but also enhances the dining experience for residents and guests. The Cook plays an essential role in maintaining the kitchen’s operational efficiency by supervising kitchen activities under the guidance of the Dining Services Director and the Chef or Lead Cook. This includes overseeing proper dishwashing procedures, maintaining kitchen equipment, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards to prevent foodborne illnesses.
The position is offered with varying shifts, including 1st and 2nd shifts, and may require working every other weekend. Compensation ranges from $16.92 to $20.05 per hour, depending on the candidate’s experience. Job Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be flexible/adaptable, pay attention to detail, and have a sense of teamwork
- Must possess good time management skills and a keen awareness of safety
- Must possess current manager's level food handler permit
- Must have positive criminal background screening
- The Community is a drug free workplace
- Associates are subject to adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy
Job Qualifications
- Minimum one year related cooking experience or equivalent preferred
- Some software and computer skills preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess current manager's level food handler permit
- Positive criminal background screening
Job Duties
- Prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented making each meal service an exceptional occasion
- Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director and Chef or Lead Cook
- Prepare high quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes adhering to standard recipes, budgeted costs, and company policies
- Supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils
- Properly maintain all kitchen equipment
- Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds to ensure prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease
- Approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Perform other job duties as assigned
