The role of the Cook at Allegro Living, specifically located at the Alto Boynton Ridge community, is integral to enhancing the daily lives of residents by providing food preparation that meets the highest standards of quality and taste. This part-time position operates on a 12pm to 8pm shift, offering a pay rate of $16 per hour depending on experience. The Cook holds a vital responsibility in ensuring that each meal served is not only delicious and nutritious but also visually appealing, contributing significantly to the overall dining experience of the community. Reporting under the direction of the Dining Services Director and the Chef/Lead Cook, this role involves supervising kitchen activities and maintaining strict adherence to recipes, cost controls, and safety protocols. Beyond cooking, the Cook is tasked with overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of the kitchen and equipment, ensuring that all sanitation standards are met to prevent any health risks. The position requires someone who can approach residents and team members with a friendly and service-oriented attitude, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Job Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be flexible/adaptable, pay attention to detail, and have a sense of teamwork
  • Must possess good time management skills and a keen awareness of safety
  • Must possess current manager's level food handler permit
  • Must have positive Criminal Background Screening
  • The Community is a drug free workplace
  • associates are subject to adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year related cooking experience or equivalent preferred
  • Some software and computer skills preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented making each meal service an exceptional occasion
  • Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director and Chef/Lead Cook
  • Prepare high quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes
  • Consistently adhere to the standard recipes, the budgeted costs and Company policies
  • Supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils
  • Properly maintain all kitchen equipment
  • Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds as appropriate to ensure the prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease
  • Approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
