This role at Marshalls, located at the Marshalls Store 0385 in Plymouth Meeting, PA, is an excellent opportunity for those interested in growing their career within the retail industry. The position focuses on maintaining a pristine, safe, and inviting store environment, with a particular emphasis on floor care and general cleanliness. The role involves operating specialized equipment such as scrubbers and buffers, as well as performing tasks including dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows.
Employees in this role adhere strictly to operational, merchandise, and loss prevention standards to help uphold the integrity and safety of the store. As part of the position, cross-training ensures versatility by preparing the employee to support various areas of the store such as the Backroom, Front End, and Sales Floor, thus contributing to the store’s overall smooth operation. The job requires the individual to embody the company’s customer experience practices, displaying honesty, integrity, and respect to foster a positive store culture.
In addition to daily cleaning and maintenance duties, the person in this position must proactively engage in store recovery efforts and support front-end coverage as needed. They are also responsible for adhering to company policies related to health and safety, including refilling essential items in associate lounges, restrooms, and the front end. Strong communication skills are important to effectively coordinate with management and colleagues. The role also demands compliance with labor laws and regulations, including those governing meal breaks and associate safety.
Performance in this role is enhanced by excellent customer service abilities, strong organizational skills, and physical stamina. Flexibility is a key attribute, as the schedule needs to adapt to business requirements. Multi-tasking capabilities are essential, alongside the ability to respond appropriately to unexpected situations or changes in direction. Job Duties
- Role models established customer experience practices with internal and external customers
- supports and embodies a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect
- maintains all floor care cleanliness standards including the maintenance and operation of the scrubber and buffer
- maintains all organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the entire store, e.g. sales floor, single queue, associate lounge, backroom and restrooms
- adheres to all company policies concerning health and safety (includes the refilling of all essential items in the lounge, restrooms and front end)
- cross-trained in other areas of the store (backroom, front end, sales floor, etc.)
- supports and responds to all front end coverage needs
- adheres and upholds merchandising philosophy and signage standards
- initiates and participates in store recovery as needed throughout the day
- adheres to all operational and loss prevention controls in accordance with company guidelines and policies including shrink reduction
- communicates accurately and effectively with management and associates
- adheres to all labor laws, policies, and procedures, including associate meal and break period policies
