Currently, the YMCA of Middle Tennessee is seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals to join their team as Part-time After School Childcare Assistants specifically for their School Age Programs. As a School Age Services Site Assistant, the successful candidate will serve in various elementary schools within Davidson County's North Nashville Community, including Cumberland Elementary, Eakin Elementary, Head Magnet Elementary, Hull Jackson Montessori Elementary, Park Avenue Elementary, and Waverly-Belmont Elementary.

The role is part-time with a consistent schedule from Monday through Friday during after school hours, specifically from 2 pm to 6 pm. This is not a temporary or summer-only role, ensuring a stable and ongoing employment opportunity throughout the 2026-2027 school year. Compensation starts at $15 per hour, with potential increases based on relevant childcare experience as shared during the application or on the resume.

In this position, Childcare Assistants are entrusted with the responsibility to create engaging, safe, and nurturing environments that support the social, physical, mental, and spiritual development of children aged 5 to 12. Duties encompass leading structured activities for groups of 15 to 20 children both indoors and outdoors, setting up and transforming program spaces to be child-friendly and clean, and helping to implement a curriculum aligned with YMCA standards focused on fostering youth development in a holistic manner. Building positive rapport with fellow YMCA staff, school personnel, and families is also a key component, ensuring a cohesive and supportive community around the children. Furthermore, adherence to site licensing regulations and quality standards integral to the YMCA’s commitment to excellence are strictly maintained.

Completion of mandatory orientation and safety checks including DHS background investigation, fingerprinting, and abuse registry checks are required before beginning the role. Within 30 days of hire, certification in Infant/Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED must be obtained to uphold the highest standards of child care and emergency preparedness.
