Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • two years of work experience in a law enforcement environment
  • certified law enforcement officer
  • meet all requirements of the state of South Dakota to remain certified
  • valid driver’s license
  • safe driving record
  • pass physical examination
  • pass pre-employment drug test
  • ability to be a credible witness in court
  • effective oral and written communication skills
  • ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • two years of work experience in a law enforcement environment
  • certified law enforcement officer
  • meet all state of South Dakota certification requirements
  • valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public
  • maintain professional appearance and demeanor

Job Duties

  • serve warrants and execute civil court orders
  • deliver court orders, notices, subpoenas, garnishments, property executions, commitments, show-cause orders, and protection orders
  • comply with applicable laws and procedures
  • carry a firearm in accordance with agency policy
  • interact professionally with public, attorneys, businesses, and law enforcement agencies
  • provide clear and accurate information regarding civil papers and civil process
  • maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism
