Job Description

Michaels Companies Inc. is a leading specialty retailer in the arts and crafts industry, operating over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada along with a strong online presence through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has established itself as the go-to destination for all things creative. The company is known for its vast assortment of art supplies, framing, home décor, and seasonal products, serving a diverse clientele of hobbyists, professionals, and families alike. Michael's mission is to fuel the joy of creativity and celebration by providing customers with unique products, exceptional service, and a vibrant community experience. As a prominent leader in the retail crafting sector, Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, adding to the company's comprehensive offerings and expertise in the craft industry.

This role is integral to the success of the Michaels store located in Missoula, Montana, where the Store Team Member is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, assisting customers in locating products, and ensuring a speedy and friendly checkout experience. The position involves a variety of duties that include assisting with product discovery, educating customers about Michaels' Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and supporting Omni channel retail processes such as Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). The role requires active participation in maintaining store presentation and merchandise recovery standards, enacting safety and shrink control programs, and adhering to company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to comply with applicable laws. The Store Team Member must also model positive behavior, respect, and commitment to the brand’s values, serving as a role model for team members and customers alike.

A unique aspect of this job includes being cross-trained in the custom framing sales and production area, which allows for a dynamic and engaging work environment. Candidates will engage in physical work such as standing for long periods, lifting heavy boxes, climbing ladders, and moving throughout the store to ensure optimal stock levels and an appealing shopping environment. Work shifts may include nights, weekends, and early mornings in a public retail setting that is mostly climate controlled, with some outdoor duties or areas without climate control.

Michaels values inclusivity and has a strong commitment to providing reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities to ensure they can perform their essential job functions. The company stresses an open and respectful workplace culture, encouraging team members to maintain a positive image and encourage creativity within their teams and the communities they serve. Michaels offers robust benefits including health insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts, contributing to overall employee wellbeing.
