This particular role is a part-time position within the Fresh Foods Department at Harris Teeter. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move up to 30 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including hot, cold, and extreme cold
  • Must be punctual and reliable with the ability to notify management two hours in advance for absences or lateness
  • Ability to handle, mix, and apply chemicals according to safety guidelines
  • Must adhere to company grooming and dress policies
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and perform multiple tasks
  • Must demonstrate teamwork and support of fellow associates
  • Completion of company mandated training programs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One to three months related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple English instructions and correspondence
  • Ability to write simple English correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members in English
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Basic math skills including addition and subtraction with American money and weight measurements
  • Ability to follow safety and food sanitation standards
  • Willingness to complete required company training in food sanitation, safety, customer service, and product knowledge

Job Duties

  • Take excellent care of customers by meeting and exceeding their needs
  • Prepare, process, package, and stock products according to Fresh Foods standards
  • Provide courteous and prompt customer service including answering questions and assisting with product location
  • Bake, decorate, and prepare bakery items and party trays according to recipes and customer specifications
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, prep rooms, coolers, and food contact surfaces
  • Unload stock deliveries, manage salvage products, and stock shelves to maximize sales and minimize shrink
  • Comply with health, safety, sanitation, and company policies and procedures
