Job Description
Atlantic Shores is a distinguished continuing care retirement community located in Virginia Beach, dedicated to serving adults aged 55 and older. Known for its award-winning services, Atlantic Shores prioritizes creating a welcoming neighborhood that fosters active lifestyles, independence, and security for all its residents and staff. The community upholds core values such as service to others, trust and honesty, leadership for growth, and loyalty, which guide its mission to provide freedom, dignity, wellness, and a high quality of life for everyone involved. With a vision "To be a neighborhood where people want to live and work," Atlantic Shores stands as a premier choice for those seeking a supportive and engaging environment in both residential living and employment opportunities.
The Dining Services team at Atlantic Shores is currently seeking dedicated individuals to join as Bussers. This position is ideal for entry-level candidates who are looking to become part of an organized team without the challenge of late-night shifts. The role focuses on contributing to an enjoyable dining experience for residents by collaborating closely with fellow team members to maintain cleanliness, order, and efficiency in the dining area. As a Busser at Atlantic Shores, employees earn a competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience, along with flexible shifts available throughout the week.
Beyond the basics, the role offers numerous additional compensation benefits designed to reward and support team members. These include generous paid time off beginning with up to 104 hours annually, holiday pay at 1.5 times the regular rate, overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 per week, referral bonuses, and a Star Employee Recognition Program with monetary awards. Moreover, Atlantic Shores provides comprehensive medical benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, and supplemental insurance such as accident, cancer, and critical illness policies. Employees also have access to legal resources and identity theft protection. Financial security is further supported through a 401k plan with company match, and there are strong educational support options via tuition reimbursement for qualifying coursework up to $5,250 annually, alongside educational partnership discounts with several universities.
The Busser’s primary responsibilities include maintaining a clean and organized dining environment, clearing and setting tables, expediting food orders, serving or delivering meals accurately, and assisting in setting up various dining functions. This role requires effective communication and teamwork skills to interact positively with residents, kitchen staff, and dining service members. Although no prior experience is necessary, having food service or hospitality background is advantageous. Essential attributes for success include a positive attitude, punctuality, reliable transportation, excellent time management, and strong organizational skills.
Working as a Busser at Atlantic Shores offers a unique opportunity to be part of a compassionate team that values kindness and warmth, with a daily chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of senior residents. This position not only provides financial and employment benefits but also a supportive, family-like work culture committed to personal and professional growth.
