Job Requirements

  • must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in hospitality or bar service preferred
  • ability to communicate clearly with guests
  • basic mathematical skills
  • manual dexterity in hands
  • ability to stand and work for extended periods
  • ability to use point of sale systems
  • ability to work under state and federal alcohol service regulations
  • willingness to comply with attendance and work schedule

Job Qualifications

  • hotel experience preferred
  • effective communication skills with guests
  • basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • basic mathematical skills for cash handling and portion sizing
  • manual dexterity to use a knife, handle glassware and bottles, scoop ice, and retrieve stock
  • ability to memorize and promote menu items
  • ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale system
  • ability to stand and work in confined spaces for extended periods
  • ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with associates, customers and patrons
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • adaptable communication style

Job Duties

  • maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis
  • requisitions and stocks beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce
  • maintains stock, cuts, and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and perishables daily
  • greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard recipes and portion control
  • abides by all state, federal and corporate regulations regarding alcoholic beverage service
  • inputs orders into register and creates checks for guests
  • receives and processes cash payments, verifies charges, records charges, and ensures vouchers are executed
  • locks and stores all beverage, food, and equipment items and secures cash and bank deposits
  • complies with attendance rules and works regularly
  • performs other job-related duties as assigned
