Job Description

The Laura Hotel is a distinguished property deeply rooted in the rich history of Downtown Houston, drawing inspiration from the historic steamboat named The Laura. Just as the steamboat was known for boldly navigating uncharted waters, The Laura Hotel aims to pioneer a future brimming with culinary innovation, artistic inspiration, and numerous opportunities for business and leisure in the heart of Houston. This establishment is more than just a hotel; it represents a convergence of tradition and modernity, where every guest experience is crafted with passion and attention to detail. Employing a team of hospitality-focused individuals, The Laura Hotel is committed to creating memorable moments for every guest, whether they are visiting for work or pleasure. By adopting a family-oriented culture through the HEI Loves program, the hotel offers its associates competitive compensation packages, comprehensive benefits, and generous paid time off. These perks extend beyond financial remuneration, including free meals, discounted parking, travel benefits, and more, contributing to a supportive and inclusive work environment. This welcoming culture embraces diversity and encourages candidates from varied backgrounds to apply, including U.S. military veterans, strengthening the team’s resilience and diversity. The Laura Hotel is dedicated to building a career pathway for its employees, fostering professional growth and development.

The role offered is that of a bartender, focusing on delivering exceptional service to guests to ensure a positive and hospitable experience. This position does not involve tipped compensation and is hourly paid at $9.00. Critical responsibilities include managing fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables to maintain high product quality. Guest interaction is a core part of the role, involving greeting guests warmly, promoting menu items, and preparing drinks using standardized recipes and precise portion control. The bartender must follow all relevant state, federal, and corporate alcohol service regulations. Additionally, the role involves handling transactions accurately, including cash receipt, change making, and maintaining accountability for all beverages served. Secure closure of the bar and compliance with attendance policies are also essential duties. This position requires a keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the physical capability to perform manual tasks such as mixing drinks and managing stock. The Laura Hotel values adaptability and effective teamwork, expecting the bartender to build strong relationships with guests, coworkers, and management. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality who wish to be part of a forward-thinking hotel property committed to both guest satisfaction and employee wellbeing.
