Job Description
Maps Credit Union is a well-established financial institution located in the heart of the beautiful Willamette Valley, Oregon. With a proud history dating back to 1935 as an educators' credit union, Maps Credit Union serves over 86,000 members through its 14 branch locations and employs more than 380 dedicated staff. The organization is deeply rooted in the local community and strongly believes in the value of lifelong learning, not only about financial matters but in all areas of life. Maps Credit Union’s mission reflects its commitment to working together with members and the community to navigate life's challenges and opportunities.
Within Maps Credit Union, The Dot is a unique, local café located inside the High Street Branch near downtown Salem, Oregon. The Dot offers more than just delicious food and beverage options—it serves as a community engagement hub that promotes the credit union's community giveback efforts through the Maps Community Foundation. The café strives to create meaningful interactions with members by delivering outstanding service and storytelling that highlights the positive impact of the credit union and its charitable arm.
The Part-Time Barista position at The Dot offers an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of both the café environment and the broader mission of Maps Credit Union. This role requires an enthusiastic, reliable, and great communicator who is passionate about serving the community and providing excellent customer service. The Barista will have a key role in representing The Dot by fostering warm, engaging interactions with customers while preparing and serving quality hot and cold beverages, as well as food products.
This part-time opportunity is perfect for someone who is self-motivated and comfortable working independently as the solo barista during assigned shifts. The Barista will be responsible for opening and closing the café, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the workspace, and ensuring all equipment is properly handled and cared for. Adherence to health, safety, and sanitation standards is critical in this role to uphold food safety regulations and provide a safe environment for customers and staff alike.
In addition to day-to-day café operations, the Barista will support community engagement efforts by assisting the Community Outreach and Maps Community Foundation departments during events hosted in the café. This position not only focuses on beverage and food preparation but also on enhancing the customer experience by uncovering customer needs related to the broader suite of financial and community services offered by Maps Credit Union and its subsidiary companies.
The role is part-time, offering a work schedule primarily from Monday through Friday with specific morning and early afternoon shifts. Hourly pay ranges from $18.00 to $21.00 plus tips, reflecting the value placed on the skills and dedication required. This opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to contribute meaningfully to their community while working in a supportive, mission-driven environment where personal growth and professional development are encouraged.
