Job Description

The Salvation Army is an international movement and an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Founded on the principles of the Bible and motivated by the love of God, the organization is dedicated to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and addressing human needs without discrimination. It operates various ministries and services globally, including adult rehabilitation centers that help individuals recover and reintegrate into society by providing support, training, and spiritual guidance. The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is one such program that offers structured therapy and vocational training to its beneficiaries, helping them regain independence and self-sufficiency.

The Assistant Kitchen Supervisor role at The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is an essential part of the organization's mission to rehabilitate and assist individuals in need. As an Assistant Kitchen Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily kitchen operations while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This part-time position offers a pay rate ranging from $18 to $23 per hour and requires commitment for 25 hours per week. The role involves managing the kitchen environment, leading and training beneficiaries on kitchen safety and compliance protocols, supervising cooking and cleaning tasks, and maintaining smooth canteen operations. You will play a pivotal part in supporting the rehabilitation program by fostering a safe, organized, and efficient kitchen atmosphere.

In addition to supervisory duties, you will manage inventory, update menus using the Cycle Menu Management System, source and coordinate food donations, and generate purchase orders based on inventory and cost needs. Close coordination with the Kitchen Supervisor and adherence to Health Department policies are critical to ensure the highest standards of food safety and kitchen operations. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who have kitchen management experience or relevant certification and who are passionate about contributing to a mission-driven environment. With professional development opportunities, a supportive team, and potential for training and advancement, this role offers more than just a job—it provides a meaningful way to make a positive impact on the lives of others. The work environment is fast-paced and demanding, requiring good organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and physical stamina to handle standing, lifting, and manual food preparation. The Salvation Army embraces diversity and encourages candidates from various backgrounds, especially those who have been impacted by the justice system, US Veterans, people with disabilities, and those without a college degree, to apply. Background checks are mandatory for this role, emphasizing the organization's commitment to safety and integrity.
