The current opening at Valor is for a Food and Beverage Server at the Hilton College Station, a distinguished property supported by the organization in Aggieland, Texas. This role is pivotal in creating enjoyable dining experiences by providing prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable service to restaurant customers. The position is ideal for individuals who have some experience in food and beverage services and who thrive in dynamic, guest-focused environments. The Food and Beverage Server is expected to maintain cleanliness, manage table settings, and possess a strong understanding of menu items to assist and guide guests effectively. This role also requires excellent communication skills to handle customer inquiries and adapt tactfully during high-pressure situations.

A typical workday involves attentively bussing tables, restocking dining essentials, and contributing to the overall ambiance of the restaurant by ensuring sanitary conditions and attractive presentation. The Food and Beverage Server will participate in team meetings to stay updated on daily specials, service protocols, and hotel offerings, ensuring seamless communication across departments. The position demands physical stamina, as servers are on their feet for prolonged periods, and must be capable of lifting and carrying trays loaded with food and beverages. Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent experience
  • Three to six months experience in a food and beverage services environment or establishment
  • Vision ability to clearly see detailed guest checks, computer print outs, written instructions and to observe entire restaurant in dimly lit conditions
  • Manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items in hand, and to balance and carry trays loaded with food and beverages
  • Ability to communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three to six months experience in a food and beverage services environment or establishment
  • Ability to memorize menu items, recipes and daily specials
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle stressful situations with tact
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and carry heavy trays

Job Duties

  • Ensure tables are cleaned and set in a timely manner to effectively serve our guests
  • Maintain table settings by removing finished courses, clearing and organizing dirty dishes, glasses and silverware and maintaining a clean and sanitary bussing station
  • Complete all restocking and cleaning duties as instructed
  • Memorize menu items, recipes and daily specials in order to answer questions and make recommendation to customers
  • Maintain cleanliness standards in restaurant, wait- station, and kitchen service area in order to have a clean, presentable and attractive facility and to satisfy state and local health board requirements
  • Attend all pre-meal and departmental meetings in person to enhance communications and gain knowledge of products, service and facility
  • Respond to customer inquiries and comments in person and on phone by providing timely and knowledgeable information to provide quality customer service
  • Present a clean and professional appearance at all times
  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor always
  • Able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations
  • Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management
