Job Description

Capitol Language Services (CLS) is a well-established educational organization specializing in providing high-quality language and after-school programs within the Washington, DC community. This role serves as the primary representative of CLS at the school, acting as the essential link between the CLS office and onsite staff, as well as parents and students. The Program Coordinator is responsible for daily management and supervision of the after-school program, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, maintaining accurate attendance records, and supporting teachers with classroom activities. This position requires a proactive and organized individual who can handle multiple responsibilities efficiently while upholding a nurturing and safe environment for children. The Coordinator’s duties include communication with parents regarding child welfare, managing behavioral challenges, and responding rapidly to any emergencies or staff issues.\n\nWorking hours for this part-time role are Monday through Friday from 2:15 PM to 6:15 PM, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about child development to make a meaningful impact in their local community while maintaining a balanced schedule. Compensation ranges between $22 to $27 per hour, supplemented with an end-of-year bonus and opportunities to work additional hours during DC Public Schools (DCPS) closures through camp programs. CLS also provides training to support coordinators in effectively managing program operations and fostering enriching experiences for children. This role requires the candidate to be accessible within the Washington, DC 20008 area, with occasional travel to the CLS office as needed. Job Requirements

  • AA degree in education or related
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • At least one year of experience in childcare, education, or program coordination
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and multitask
  • Proficiency with tablets and technology
  • Good references
  • Willingness to undergo DCPS background check

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • At least two years of experience in a supervisory position
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a keen attention to detail

  • Good references from previous employers
  • Must be willing to undergo a DCPS background check

Job Duties

  • Represent CLS and effectively communicate our mission, vision, and policies to staff, parents, and students
  • Serve as the liaison between on-site staff and the CLS office team, ensuring seamless communication and operations
  • Supervise daily program activities, ensuring teachers have the necessary supplies and parents have a point of contact for concerns
  • Maintain accurate rosters and ensure all children are accounted for during program hours
  • Address behavioral issues and support teachers in classroom activities as needed
  • Immediately report any staff misconduct, child safety concerns, or emergencies to the CLS office team
  • Set up and maintain program materials and equipment daily, ensuring organization and functionality
