Job Requirements

  • High school degree
  • Some college preferred
  • Computer literacy with MS Office proficiency preferred
  • Library or bookstore experience preferred
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, and lifting up to 25 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Some college coursework preferred
  • Experience with computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred

Job Duties

  • Warmly welcome customers into the library and ensure a great experience and fond farewell
  • Assist customers on the floor and in the stacks by helping find books and assisting with self-checkout services
  • Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and refreshing of displays throughout the library
  • Engage customers in conversations about promotions, programs, and services offered by the library
  • Register new library customers, handle fees, process book requests through RLD or ILL, and assist with copy center and basic computer needs
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting of computers, email, Microsoft products, and internet navigation for customers
  • Manage cash handling duties including counting cash and reconciling cash balances
  • Coordinate the opening and closing of the library daily
  • Maintain experience zones by ensuring they are stocked, clean, and operational including video displays and interactive components
  • Support programs and promotions and contribute ideas for district committees
  • Serve as a knowledgeable trainer on the library's copy center and technology
  • Operate the phone lines, reserve meeting rooms, and respond to patron inquiries
  • Demonstrate integrity in every action and decision.
