Job Requirements

  • High school degree
  • Some college preferred
  • Computer literacy with MS Office proficiency preferred
  • Library or bookstore experience preferred
  • Ability to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb, push or pull up to 50 pounds, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Commitment to uphold library values and customer service standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some college preferred
  • Previous library or bookstore experience is an advantage
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and MS Office preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Cash handling experience preferred
  • Passionate about customer service and community engagement

Job Duties

  • Welcome customers warmly to the library and ensure a positive experience
  • Assist patrons in finding books and using self-checkout services
  • Maintain cleanliness and attractive displays throughout the library
  • Engage customers in conversations about promotions, programs, and services
  • Manage opening and closing procedures of the library branch
  • Oversee experience zones, including technology and interactive components
  • Provide basic computer assistance and train customers on library technology
  • Register new members, handle fees, and process materials requests
  • Manage cash transactions including counting and reconciliation
  • Assist with programs, promotions, and committee contributions
  • Answer phones and reserve meeting rooms for patrons
  • Assess customer feedback to identify collection needs
