As the best place for creativity, Michaels offers a wide range of products including crafts, framing merchandise through its subsidiary Artistree, and event supplies. The company continually strives to fuel the joy of creativity and celebration for its customers and team members alike, emphasizing inclusivity, innovation, and a supportive work environment. With a strong commitment to customer experience and community engagement, Michaels presents a rewarding career opportunity for individuals passionate about art, creativity, and customer service. Michaels is also recognized for providing excellent employee benefits such as 401(k) with company match, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition assistance, and employee discounts, helping team members maintain a healthy work-life balance.
This position is located at the Michaels store in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, and is a full-time role focused primarily on event coordination and customer service within the store. The successful candidate will be entrusted with planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events in the store, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other creative gatherings. The role emphasizes creating an engaging, fun, and stress-free environment that encourages creativity among participants of all ages, from 4 to over 94. Customers rely on Michaels both as a shopping destination and as a venue for unique and memorable experiences, and the Event Coordinator will play a crucial role in delivering on these brand promises.
Key responsibilities include organizing multiple concurrent events, guiding participants through craft projects, face painting, and additional activities, as well as managing party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons. Communication skills are essential, as the coordinator will regularly interact with clients, respond to their needs, and adjust plans accordingly. Administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, handling paperwork, and ensuring store cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after events also form part of the position.
Additionally, the role involves assisting customers with their shopping experience, offering product knowledge, supporting the checkout process, and facilitating programs such as the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards enrollment. Candidates will engage with omni-channel retail processes including Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) to support seamless customer service. The position requires participation in daily store maintenance tasks including truck unloading, stocking, planogram setup, merchandise recovery, and stock optimization. Safety, compliance with company policies, and promoting a positive team-oriented work environment are core aspects of this role.
The ideal candidate possesses an energetic and enthusiastic personality, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience in handling children’s events within a retail setting. The role demands physical stamina to remain standing for long periods, perform lifting, bending, and other activities typical of a retail environment. Michaels is committed to reasonable accommodations to ensure all qualified individuals can perform essential functions, fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture. This role represents an excellent opportunity for creative individuals who enjoy engaging with customers and organizing memorable events, while contributing positively to Michaels' reputation as a leader in arts and crafts retail and experiences.
