The role of Parking Meter Attendant II within the City of Fresno’s Planning and Development Department invites energetic and hardworking individuals to support the mission of Building a Better Fresno. This position is vital in maintaining city parking infrastructure which is critical in managing downtown and city-wide parking operations smoothly. As a Parking Meter Attendant II, you will engage in preventive maintenance and repair of parking meters, parking control devices, and related mechanical and electronic equipment. Your responsibilities will also include collecting, sorting, and counting money from parking meters, ensuring accurate cash handling and record-keeping. This is a journey-level role expected to be filled by candidates who have progressed from Parking Meter Attendant I through training and satisfactory performance.
The position requires medium physical exertion including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and performing tasks such as balancing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, standing, walking, and uses of repetitive motions. Mental acuity, visual acuity, and clear communication skills are essential to performing job duties safely and effectively.
The role offers a competitive salary range from $4,501 to $5,474 per month, reflecting the importance of this position in the efficient management and operation of parking systems. Job Requirements
- Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Six months of experience in repair and maintenance of specialized coin or electronic-operated parking equipment
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Successful completion of department interview
- Passing Department of Justice fingerprint clearance
- Must submit a valid driver’s license and driving record
- Compliance with City of Fresno application and examination procedures
Job Qualifications
- Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Six months of experience in repair and maintenance of coin or electronic parking equipment
- Knowledge of parking meter maintenance and repair techniques
- Ability to handle cash accurately and perform reconciliation
