The role of Parking Garage Maintenance/Porter at the Louisville Marriott is an entry-level position with a starting pay of $12 per hour and offers medical benefits to all employees. In this role, the employee will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order within the garage facilities, ensuring the common areas, including entrances, elevator landings, signage, and waste receptacles, are regularly cleaned and well-maintained. The position involves using cleaning equipment such as mops, power washers, brooms, and dustpans to manage spills, stains, and litter effectively. Additionally, the porter assists guests by providing directions, answering inquiries, and offering basic customer service with a friendly and attentive demeanor.

Safety and security are paramount, with duties including protecting guest confidentiality according to HIPAA requirements and maintaining the security of customer financial and identifying information. The parking garage porter also assists with common vehicle issues such as lock-outs, flat tires, battery jumps, and lost vehicle assistance, enhancing the overall guest experience during their stay.

The work environment includes outdoor exposure for extended periods, with the possibility of working in extreme weather conditions. Physical demands require the ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and perform various physical activities such as standing, walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, and balancing. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
  • one to three months related experience and or training without a diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • customer service experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • ability to read and write Standard English
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • ability to understand 24 hour and military time systems
  • ability to understand rates applicable to time passed
  • customer service experience preferred
  • knowledge of basic general cleaning

Job Duties

  • Cleanliness check each shift of all guest entrances and elevator landings in the entire garage
  • empty all ash urns daily and trash receptacles at half full or higher
  • sweep all litter and cigarette butts in common landing area
  • use mop or power washer to eliminate stains in common areas
  • wipe all signage and wayfinding materials with appropriate cleaning solutions and cloth
  • maintain general cleaning of garage using mobile garbage can, broom and dustpan
  • clean areas around and between vehicles of debris including cans, bottles, cups, and refuse
  • use paint safe solutions or power washer to eliminate stains on pillars and columns
  • wipe all equipment including gates, gate arms, card reading equipment and attached signage
  • empty all returned guest key receptacles and return to Towne Park MOD
  • assist guests with directions and inquiries
  • provide information about surrounding area and main attractions
  • protect guest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements
  • maintain security of customer financial and identifying information
