The role of a Parking Attendant at SP+ is vital to maintaining high standards in customer service and operational efficiency at the parking facilities. This hourly position, paying $16.00 per hour, requires punctuality, professionalism, and an ability to manage transactions smoothly while ensuring security and accuracy. Parking Attendants are responsible for handling payments, issuing receipts or tickets, managing cash, and facilitating vehicle flow through the gates effectively. They engage directly with customers, provide directions, resolve complaints with professionalism, and ensure the cleanliness and proper inventory of their workspaces.

Job Requirements

  • valid state-issued driver’s license with current address and acceptable driving record
  • availability to work special shifts including 2nd shift, 3rd shift or weekends as needed
  • ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including making change
  • ability to read, write and comprehend instructions and short documents
  • ability to communicate effectively with customers, supervisors and colleagues
  • ability to operate cash register and related equipment
  • ability to maintain professionalism and courteous manner during customer interactions
  • ability to sit, use hands to handle objects and reach with arms
  • ability to maintain close vision
  • punctual attendance and dress in uniform as required

Job Qualifications

  • less than high school education or up to one month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but standard instructions
  • ability to use clock, calculator or credit card machine for transactions
  • ability to maintain pleasant and mannerly demeanor when interacting with public and on telephone
  • ability to effectively respond to customer problems or complaints

Job Duties

  • be at work every scheduled day, on time and in uniform
  • count bank of revenue at beginning of shift to ensure starting total is correct
  • collect cash and/or validations and maintain security of cash
  • make change and issue receipts or tickets to customer for each transaction
  • compute or recompute bill from ticket showing amount due per customer
  • operate cash register after time calculation manually or by machine and calculate cost of transaction
  • quote prices for parking services and collect money with customer receipt
  • give directions to customers to various locations in the city
  • complete lost ticket forms when original tickets cannot be located
  • resolve customer complaints independently or with supervisor assistance
  • answer telephone promptly and courteously
  • maintain cleanliness of booth and surrounding area
  • conduct timely checks on inventory of work aids and supplies
  • verify log of shift transactions against bank of revenue on hand
  • compile collected revenue once predetermined amount is collected
  • record amounts received and cars in/out of facility
  • prepare shift report of transactions
  • perform any other duties assigned by supervisor
