The Parking Department at UC Davis is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and enforcement of all parking facilities affiliated with the University Medical Center. This includes overseeing metered lots, administering permit sales predominantly through payroll deductions or cash, and maintaining a parking support center that operates around the clock. The department is crucial in ensuring that parking services meet the needs of staff, patients, and visitors while complying with relevant laws and regulations such as the California Vehicle Code 21113a.

The position of Parking Assistant (UC Job Title: PARKING AST), with 55 positions available, involves managing the daily operations of the Parking Command Center. This center acts as the hub for receiving calls for assistance, controlling parking facility access, and providing customer support. It is a dynamic workplace functioning 24/7 throughout the year with variable shifts, thus requiring flexibility and a commitment to service excellence. The role includes important responsibilities such as cash handling during high-volume parking operations, operating electronic fee computers, and assisting in the training and administrative support functions of the department. This full-time, career staff position pays hourly wages ranging approximately from $25 to $25.48 and is located at Parking Structure III of UC Davis Health System (HSP003). The job requires a valid California driver’s license and adherence to rigorous standards for maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
