Job Description

The Town is actively seeking a dedicated Parking and Transit Technician for the summer season of 2026. This role is positioned within a vibrant recreational community that experiences a significant influx of visitors during peak seasons, making efficient parking and transit operations crucial to the town's infrastructure and visitor experience. The Town is known for its beautiful outdoor spaces and bustling recreational activities, attracting residents and tourists who rely heavily on well-managed parking and transit services.

As a municipal employer, the Town offers a dynamic working environment emphasizing public service, community engagement, and operational excellence. The role of Parking and Transit Technician is a full-time seasonal position extending from the start of the summer to at least mid-August, with an ideal commitment through mid-October. The position requires flexibility to work on weekends, evenings, and holidays to address the high demand for parking and transit services during these periods.

This position supports the Town's parking and transit operations, which are essential to managing the flow and safety of vehicles and pedestrians in a busy recreational setting. The Parking and Transit Technician plays a vital role in maintaining visitor-friendly services by performing a mix of field operations, customer service, data collection, and close collaboration with the Parking and Transit Manager. The role involves direct interaction with the public, requiring strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Daily responsibilities include monitoring parking areas, assisting visitors with inquiries about parking regulations and transit routes, providing clear information about transit schedules and special events, and supporting compliance efforts. The Technician also aids in transit operations by helping passengers, monitoring transit stops, and coordinating with drivers and dispatchers. Additionally, the role includes assisting with parking technology such as pay stations and handheld devices, collecting data on parking occupancy and transit ridership, and participating in temporary traffic control during special events or construction periods.

Working outdoors is a key component of this job, exposing employees to varying weather conditions and physical activity such as walking on uneven surfaces, setting up traffic control devices, and operating portable technology. The Technician must maintain a professional, welcoming presence that reflects the Town's commitment to excellent customer service standards. The position operates under the supervision of the Parking and Transit Manager and involves rotating shifts to respond effectively to the needs of the community.

The Town values employees who are self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of adapting to a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in customer service, parking, transit, tourism, or outdoor recreation, with a familiarity with resort community settings considered beneficial. There is an emphasis on safety, situational awareness, and the ability to de-escalate conflicts when necessary. The role requires proficiency with basic computer and mobile tools, including the ability to use Google suite and Microsoft Office software to assist with data reporting and communications.

In summary, the Parking and Transit Technician position is a vital seasonal role offering an engaging outdoor work environment with varied responsibilities. It facilitates a smoother, safer experience for the Town's residents and visitors by supporting essential parking and transit functions during the busy recreation season. This role offers a competitive hourly wage of $20.50 to $23.50 and participation in Colorado’s Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA). Although this position is seasonal and not otherwise benefit-eligible, the Town provides valuable on-the-job training and opportunities for personal growth in a supportive community atmosphere.
