The role of the Parent Partner within Foothill Family Services' Intensive Services program is an essential position that bridges the gap between families and service providers. The Parent Partner acts as a crucial advocate, ensuring the family’s voice is respected and included in all aspects of treatment planning and service delivery. This role is designed for individuals who have personal experience as primary caregivers to children who have previously received services through the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS), Probation Services, or the Department of Mental Health (DMH). Candidates must have had their cases closed for at least one year (for DCFS and Probation cases) before being eligible for this position. The employment type is typically full-time with a schedule that primarily focuses on afternoons and evenings, including availability for on-call emergency response. Compensation details are in accordance with agency standards and relevant union agreements, reflecting the specialized nature of the work.

The Parent Partner is responsible for supporting and promoting the agency's mission by serving as a trusted liaison for parent and family involvement. This role includes conducting outreach to families, supporting them in navigating complex systems, providing peer support, and reinforcing intervention strategies learned in therapy. The Parent Partner offers trauma-informed care that emphasizes protective factors such as parental resilience, social connections, parenting knowledge, and social-emotional competence. They work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, attending Child and Family Team meetings and representing parent perspectives throughout treatment processes. The position requires traveling to clients' homes, schools, community sites, and agency offices to deliver flexible, field-based services tailored to family needs. The Parent Partner is also involved in on-going service program development, participates actively in team meetings and training, and ensures meticulous documentation and adherence to confidentiality laws and agency policies.

This role is ideal for someone who embodies creativity, resourcefulness, and a non-judgmental approach, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage families from diverse backgrounds effectively. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is mandatory to address the language needs of the community served. The Parent Partner must possess a valid California driver’s license and maintain required auto insurance to safely navigate the regions covered by the agency.
