Reporting directly to the Director of Federal Programs, this position offers an exempt status, aligned with the North Carolina Teacher Salary Schedule and a 10-month term of employment. This role is designed for professionals passionate about strengthening the ties between parents, families, and the educational community through strategic engagement and collaborative programming. The Parent/Family & Community Engagement Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing district-wide family engagement plans in coordination with Title I school leaders. The position demands coordination and leadership in organizing district-wide events that build meaningful connections with families, including family engagement nights, literacy celebrations, resource fairs, and cultural celebrations. Furthermore, this role involves assisting with policy coordination to promote positive school-family-community relationships, providing technical support to Title I schools to create welcoming environments, and cultivating strong community partnerships that expand resources for students and families.\n\nThe ideal candidate will possess the ability to exercise sound judgment and take initiative while working independently, as well as excellent communication skills to interact effectively with district staff, school personnel, parents, and community members. Experience in data interpretation and applying educational strategies aligned with the North Carolina accountability and testing models is essential. Additionally, knowledge regarding curriculum and instructional methods will be valuable for this role. The position demands flexibility in scheduling, as it includes attending evening and afterschool activities to support family and community engagement. Spanish language proficiency is preferred, but not required.\n\nA key component of the role involves designing parent and family learning opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting their children's academic progress. The coach will also seek out grants, manage budgets related to engagement programs, and collaborate closely with the EL Division to support English Learner families through assessment data and instructional program understanding. Job Duties

  • Develop a district-wide parent and family engagement plan in partnership with Title I school site leaders to coordinate major events, district-wide initiatives involving parents, and district-wide parent engagement activities
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead district-wide events such as family engagement nights, literacy celebrations, back-to-school and resource fairs, and cultural celebrations that strengthen family engagement and connection to Onslow County Schools
  • Assist with the coordination of policies and procedures designed to promote and maintain effective relationships and understanding between the school district, parents, and community
  • Plan and provide regular parental support and engagement activities as specified for family engagement at district and site level
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief of Communications or designee to design and utilize media to introduce parents to the school district and enhance school/community relations
  • Implement and monitor a variety of family engagement programs and strategies across Title I schools
  • Provide technical support to Title I school sites in the creation of a welcoming school environment, such as providing school tours, annual Title I meetings, and orientation sessions for new families
  • Support Title I schools in developing an outreach strategy to inform families, businesses, and the community about involvement opportunities, policies and programs
  • provide guidance to schools in the development and enlistment of volunteers
  • Identify, create, and foster partnerships with community organizations, businesses, faith-based groups, higher education institutions, and civic and military agencies including the USMC School Liaison Program to expand resources, services, and opportunities available to Title I students and families
  • Support existing family resources at Title I schools to connect families and help them support their child's learning, build families' strengths and capacities, serve as a hub for the community, and offer help without stigma by mobilizing the public and providing community resources to help children and families in need
  • Direct the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned services, activities and operations
  • Plan and coordinate training for parents on how to access site, district, and community information
  • Design and facilitate parent/family learning opportunities, such as workshops, informational sessions, and resource nights, that build parents' knowledge and skills to support their child(ren)'s academic growth and development
  • Attend district, community, and collaborative partners meetings to promote the effective involvement and inclusion of stakeholders in the decision-making process
  • Communicate and collaborate with administrators, district personnel, and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, and exchange information, model district standards of ethics and professionalism
  • Take part in opportunities for professional development at the local, regional, and/or state level
  • attend local meetings and training for parent involvement activities
  • share ideas and experiences with school or district staff, leadership team, and/or other parent professionals
  • Seek and obtain grants, cultivate fiscal partnership opportunities, and manage budgets applicable to parent and community engagement programs
  • Work with the EL Division to provide support for WIDA Screeners for students identified as EL learners
  • Provide support to parents and teachers in understanding and utilizing results for WIDA screeners and other assessment data and instructional programs
  • Work to connect EL families with their children’s schools
  • Performs other duties as assigned
