This specific role is for a Paraprofessional fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), who will be an integral part of the educational team in various school settings. Employment can be full-time, part-time, or temporary, with a competitive pay rate ranging from $23.00 to $26.00 per hour depending on factors such as certifications and assignment specifics. This paraprofessional position is non-exempt and paid hourly based on actual hours worked.

The role involves working closely with students either one-on-one or two-to-one, particularly with those requiring moderate to severe support. These responsibilities include assisting with toileting, personal one-on-one care, supporting non-verbal students, and addressing challenging or aggressive behaviors within the classroom. You'll be expected to build trust and rapport with students while fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. Additionally, you will support resource teachers in delivering Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), taking directions from lead educators, and assisting as needed. The role demands a passionate commitment to education, an empathetic and growth-oriented mindset, and the ability to communicate fluently in American Sign Language to aid both signing and non-signing individuals effectively.

Ideal candidates will possess college credits or an associate's or bachelor’s degree and provide three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor. State and federal background checks are mandatory. Preferred qualifications include certifications such as the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), Consortium of Certified Interpreters (ACCI) Level 4 or above, Educational Sign Skills Evaluation - Interpreter (ESSE-I) Level 4 or above, or Educational Interpreter Performance Evaluation (EIPA) Level 4 or above. Experience within K-12 schools, especially special education settings, familiarity with working with children with special education needs, and specialized training or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) experience, are highly regarded.
