Banner Health Emergency Services is a leading healthcare provider dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to communities across Arizona. The newest addition to Banner Health's service network is a state-of-the-art freestanding emergency department (ED) situated in Buckeye, Arizona, scheduled to open in November 2026. This modern 14,500 square foot facility is designed to provide urgent care with 14 fully equipped exam spaces, a dedicated trauma/treatment room, and comprehensive diagnostic services, including x-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound. Although the ED does not admit patients onsite, it maintains a close partnership with Banner Estrella Medical Center, ensuring seamless transitions for patient care and comprehensive support for the community’s emergency healthcare needs.
Banner Health is currently seeking experienced and compassionate Paramedics to become integral members of the founding team at the Buckeye freestanding ED. The role is crucial in delivering high-quality emergency medical services, particularly in high-pressure situations where quick thinking, resilience, and a calm demeanor are paramount. Candidates must have at least two years of Emergency Department experience to qualify. This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis, offering varied shifts that include competitive shift differentials, such as a flat $1 per hour for weekend shifts and an 18% premium for night shifts. Shift options include 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and overnight shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with part-time positions requiring availability for at least two days per week, including weekends and holidays.
In this position, Paramedics are responsible for providing patient care under the direction of the base hospital EMS Medical Director. Duties involve assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient care in accordance with Banner Health policies and professional paramedic standards. This role demands the use of specialized knowledge and clinical judgment to respond to the urgent needs of patients across diverse age groups and conditions. Paramedics also ensure the quality of care for both themselves and others under their supervision, emphasizing teamwork and responsiveness within the emergency care team.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Current and valid Paramedic certification or license
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- PALS certification for pediatric care
- Minimum of two years experience in an Emergency Department
- Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Compliance with organizational policies and state practice guidelines
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Current and valid Paramedic certification or license in the state of practice
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- PALS certification if working with pediatric populations
- Moderate experience typically 2-4 years in emergency or related healthcare settings
- Preferred FP-C or CCT-P certification for specialized units
- Additional related education or experience is advantageous
Job Duties
- Evaluate acuity level of patients and match care needs to unit and hospital resources
- Perform basic patient care within scope of training including positioning, transportation, phlebotomy, ECGs, and spinal precautions
- Administer or monitor medications as ordered and approved for paramedic administration
- Assist patients in transfer utilizing proper body mechanics and techniques
- Start peripheral intravenous lines, initiate infusion, and maintain fluid administration per physician order
- Perform cardio-vascular monitoring and management within scope of training
- Manage airway interventions including oxygen administration, tracheal suctioning, ventilation assistance, and monitoring of end-tidal CO2 and pulse-ox
- Participate actively in resuscitation of critical patients
- Observe and monitor patients through diagnostic phases of treatment
- Recognize changes in patient status and notify charge nurse or physician
- Document patient assessment, progress, response to interventions, and discharge plans accurately
- Interact effectively with staff, physicians, patients, families, and external healthcare contacts
