The Pantry Cook role at Osteria is a crucial position responsible for assisting the kitchen team with food preparation and station setup according to the Chef's instructions and restaurant standards. This position requires a strong sense of organization, sanitation, and efficiency to ensure that all food items are prepared timely and to the highest quality standards. The Pantry Cook will handle tasks such as setting up their station according to restaurant guidelines, preparing a variety of food items including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and cold foods, and following recipes closely for portion control and presentation. The role also includes maintaining cleanliness and safety procedures at the station, restocking items as necessary, and properly using and maintaining kitchen equipment.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Pantry Cook assists with the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and storage areas. This collaborative role requires communication skills, the ability to take direction well, and a commitment to working calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving abilities, motivation, and a strong sense of organization are essential traits for success in this role. The Pantry Cook is also expected to follow all closing protocols for their station and support additional duties as requested by the Chef or Sous Chef.

Job Duties

  • Sets up station according to restaurant guidelines
  • prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant
  • restocks all items as needed throughout the shift
  • cleans and maintains station while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation and organizational skills
  • has understanding and knowledge of how to properly use and maintain all equipment in the station
  • assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas
