This particular opportunity is with The Salvation Army at the Family Resource Center and the Mishawaka Food Pantry location. They are seeking a Pantry Assistant on a part-time basis, working 25 hours per week, with starting pay of $16.00 per hour. The role of Pantry Assistant is vital in supporting the pantry program, ensuring that the mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out. Responsibilities will center around assisting with all activities related to the pantry program, including welcoming clients, mediating their needs, providing accurate referrals about Salvation Army and community-wide programs, and supporting other activities and programs within the Family Resource Center.
In addition to program support, the Pantry Assistant will be expected to attend meetings, workshops, or seminars related to pantry issues as required to stay informed and enhance their ability to serve clients. Key interpersonal skills such as compassion, resilience, and dependability are essential for fulfilling the role given the nature of engagement with vulnerable populations. The role requires physical effort such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, emphasizing the need for physical fitness and dexterity.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard
- Complete Safe From Harm training within the first 30 days of employment
- Position requires a background check
- Ability to lift, pull, and push materials up to 25 pounds
- Ability to bend, squat, walk, and stand for extended periods
- Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability
- Excellent manual dexterity
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Commitment to serving others and understanding the needs of the surrounding community
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Level-headedness, resiliency, flexibility, consistency, dependability, compassion
- Spanish language proficiency preferred
Job Duties
- Support the overall pantry program
