Job Description
Flynn Group is a prominent and fast-growing franchise operator that entered the Panera Bread system in 2015 with the acquisition of 47 cafes. Since that initial investment, Flynn Group has expanded substantially and is now recognized as the second largest Panera franchisee worldwide. The company continues to grow by opening new stores and acquiring additional franchise operators, reinforcing its position as a leader in the quick-service restaurant industry. Flynn Panera operates under a decentralized business model, empowering regional Market Leaders to oversee distinct geographic areas. Reporting to these Market Leaders are Area Directors who manage multiple units, including various Panera cafes, ensuring effective operational performance across their territories. General Managers report to the Area Directors and are tasked with the overall management of individual cafes, supported by Assistant Managers and Team Managers who assist in departmental and daily operational roles. This structured leadership foundation highlights Flynn Panera’s commitment to excellence and operational success.
Flynn Group, founded in 1999 by Greg Flynn, is dedicated to becoming the premier operator within several renowned global brands, including Applebee’s, Arby’s, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wendy’s, Planet Fitness, and of course, Panera Bread. The company is driven by core values that emphasize genuine care for its people, competitive spirit, and collaborative success. These core values create a culture where associates are valued, customer experience is paramount, and growth is continuously pursued.
The role of a Panera Bread Manager within Flynn Panera centers around leadership, operational excellence, and fostering a positive work environment. Panera Bread cafes offer an upscale and friendly atmosphere known for artisan breads, made-to-order specialty soups, salads, sandwiches, and espresso beverages without the use of fryers or alcohol, creating a clean and inviting environment for both employees and customers. As a Manager, the individual is responsible for overseeing up to 75 cafe staff members and ensuring the delivery of superior customer service and operational efficiency.
This full-time managerial position offers a competitive salary ranging from $50,000 to $57,000 annually, positioning it as an attractive opportunity for experienced hospitality professionals passionate about restaurant leadership. The Manager role involves a deep engagement with the cafe’s daily functions, ranging from strategic business planning and labor management to marketing efforts and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and cleanliness. Managers are also the key communicators between associates and higher management, ensuring a collaborative and motivated workforce.
Beyond operational duties, Panera Bread Managers play a crucial role in associate development through coaching, mentoring, and performance management, creating a workplace culture where associates can thrive and deliver authentic customer experiences. They are responsible for anticipating and resolving potential issues proactively to maintain smooth operations. The position demands attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a commitment to ethical business practices aligned with Flynn Group’s values. Furthermore, the job encourages individuals who are morning-oriented, as there are no late-night shifts, and emphasizes a warm, friendly approach which is vital to the Panera brand identity.
Flynn Panera supports its employees by providing opportunities for development, competitive wages, and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, starting shortly after employment. This managerial role is especially appealing to those who possess a "run it like you own it" mentality and are eager to join a dynamic, supportive team within a rapidly growing franchise system. Overall, this role offers a significant platform for career growth in the restaurant management field within a company that values leadership, integrity, and community engagement.
