Job Description
Flynn Group entered the Panera Bread system in 2015 with the acquisition of 47 cafes. Since then, the company has more than tripled in size, becoming the second largest Panera franchisee in the world. Flynn Panera continues to grow steadily by building new stores and acquiring other franchise operators, reinforcing its strong presence in the restaurant industry. Flynn Panera operates within a decentralized business model where each geographic region is led by a Market Leader, supported by Area Directors who manage multiple units. General Managers are responsible for the daily operations of individual cafes, assisted by Assistant Managers and Team Managers who oversee departmental functions and daily cafe management. With over 190 years of combined leadership experience in the restaurant industry and more than 60 years within Flynn Group, their leadership team is highly experienced and dedicated to operational excellence.
Flynn Panera is a franchisee of Panera Bread, one of the premier brands owned by Flynn Group, which was founded in 1999 by Greg Flynn. The Flynn Group has grown into the largest franchise operator globally and manages a diversified portfolio of iconic brands, including Applebee's, Arby's, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Planet Fitness. Committed to being the premier operator for each of its brands, Flynn Group focuses on core values such as genuine care for people, competitive spirit, and winning together as a team.
This full-time opportunity offers an hourly pay range of $18.00 to $22.00 and is based in-person at Flynn Panera's cafe locations. The role of Manager at Panera Bread is vital to the success of the cafe's upscale, friendly environment featuring artisan baked goods, made-to-order soups, salads, and sandwiches, alongside specialty espresso beverages. Known for its grease-free, alcohol-free atmosphere with no fryers and no late nights, this position is suited for individuals who thrive in a morning-focused, high-energy work environment.
Managers lead teams of up to 75 staff members to deliver outstanding customer service and uphold the cafe's cleanliness, sanitation, food quality, safety standards, and facility management. Responsibilities include inspiring and coaching the team, creating a profitable environment, and maintaining high operational standards. Ideal candidates will have a passion for the restaurant industry, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong history of steady, stable employment in restaurant management. This role offers a unique chance to join a rapidly growing brand known for delicious fresh food and exceptional customer experiences.
The Manager role demands strategic planning, schedule organization, and hands-on management across all cafe operations such as ordering, labor management, marketing, facilities oversight, bakery operations, and catering. Reporting lines include communication between associates and management, team development, budget management, customer engagement, and performance coaching. Managers serve as essential resources in conflict resolution and training, ensuring all team members are fully competent across food service and customer support. The position requires a proactive mindset, capable of identifying and addressing potential problems swiftly.
Flynn Panera values professionals with at least 2-3 years of hospitality management experience, with a preference for candidates who hold degrees or equivalent credentials in Hospitality or Hotel/Restaurant Management. Food management certifications are advantageous. Successful managers adopt a 'Run it Like you Own It' mentality, showing dedication and accountability.
Employees benefit from competitive wages, profit-sharing opportunities, meal discounts, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance available after their first month. Additional perks include 401(k) plans with company matching, paid vacation, and opportunities for professional development. Flynn Panera emphasizes a culture of warmth and authenticity, encouraging associates to be themselves while delivering high productivity and excellent service.
Physical requirements include the ability to stand and move quickly for up to ten hours, safely lift items up to 50 pounds, and possess dexterity for using small tools. The company is committed to accommodating individuals with disabilities and offers necessary adjustments upon request. Flynn Panera reserves the right to revise the job description as needed, highlighting its dynamic and evolving work environment. As an equal opportunity employer, Flynn Group embraces diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its hiring and operational practices, welcoming candidates who align with their mission and values to join their premier team.
