Job Description
Flynn Group is a leading franchise operator in the restaurant industry, having entered the Panera Bread system in 2015 with the acquisition of 47 cafes. Over the years, Flynn Group has experienced rapid growth and currently stands as the second largest Panera franchisee in the world. This significant expansion has been achieved through a combination of opening new stores and acquiring other franchise operators. Flynn Panera operates under a decentralized business model, where each geographic region is led by a Market Leader. Under these Market Leaders are Area Directors who manage multiple units, overseeing the overall functions of the cafes in their areas. General Managers report to Area Directors and serve as chief managers responsible for the entire operation of their individual cafes. Assistant Managers support General Managers by running departments and handling daily management tasks, while Team Managers round out the cafe leadership team. Flynn Panera is committed to hiring top talent, especially in leadership roles, drawing on over 190 years of combined experience in the restaurant industry and more than 60 years of experience within the Flynn Group itself.
Flynn Group was founded in 1999 by Greg Flynn and has grown to become the largest franchise operator globally, managing a diverse portfolio of iconic brands such as Applebee's, Arby's, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Planet Fitness. The company’s core mission is to be the premier operator within each brand by adhering to its core values: Care Genuinely for People, Play like a Champion, and Win as One.
The role of Manager at Flynn Panera centers around managing upscale Panera Bread cafes known for their artisan breads, baked pastries, soups, salads, sandwiches, and specialty espresso beverages. The environment is grease-free and alcohol-free, with no fryers and no late nights, making it an ideal setting for morning people who are passionate about leadership and hospitality. Managers lead teams of up to 75 staff members and are responsible for fostering a culture of outstanding service and quality. This position demands a passion for the food service industry, strong coaching and counseling skills, and the ability to create a profitable and exceptional customer experience. Managers at Flynn Panera maintain rigorous standards for cleanliness, sanitation, food quality, safety, and facility management. They embody the warmth and welcoming atmosphere that Panera Bread is known for, inspiring their teams to deliver excellent hospitality and maintain high morale.
The scope of responsibilities includes strategic planning, shift organization, labor management, sales analysis, marketing, and overall cafe operations including bakery and catering functions. Managers take full ownership of the cafe’s business performance, with duties ranging from budgeting and cost control to retaining and developing staff and ensuring compliance with company guidelines and cultural values. They act as the primary communication link between associates and the management team while motivating employees to be their authentic selves and to work productively. The position requires proven ability to recruit and train staff, resolve associate inquiries, anticipate and prevent operational problems, and deliver service excellence consistently.
Educationally, candidates should have at least 2-3 years of hospitality management experience, preferably with a degree or equivalent in hospitality or restaurant management. Food management certifications are considered advantageous. The ideal candidate possesses a 'Run it Like You Own It' mentality, demonstrating a hands-on leadership approach to managing all aspects of the cafe. The physical requirements include being able to stand and move actively for extended periods and safely lifting up to 50 pounds. Flynn Panera offers competitive wages ranging from $45,000 to $55,000 per year, full-time employment, and a comprehensive benefits package including profit sharing, meal discounts, medical and dental insurance, 401(k) plans, paid vacation, and ongoing development opportunities.
Flynn Group values diversity and inclusivity, committing to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities throughout the employment process. This is an outstanding career opportunity with a rapidly growing company that prioritizes people, integrity, and operational excellence. If you are an experienced restaurant professional with stable employment history and excellent interpersonal skills, Flynn Panera encourages you to join their premier team and contribute to their continued success.
