Job Description
Flynn Panera is a prominent franchisee of Panera Bread, a well-known bakery-cafe chain renowned for its fresh artisan breads, pastries, and made-to-order soups, salads, sandwiches, and specialty espresso beverages. Flynn Group entered the Panera system in 2015 by acquiring 47 cafes and has since grown substantially, tripling in size to become the second-largest Panera franchisee worldwide. Flynn Panera operates with a decentralized business model where each geographic area is overseen by a Market Leader, with Area Directors managing multiple units, General Managers running individual cafes, and supported by Assistant Managers and Team Managers.
The Flynn Group itself is an expansive restaurant group founded in 1999 by Greg Flynn. It operates multiple recognized brands in the foodservice and fitness industries, including Applebee’s, Arby’s, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wendy’s, and Planet Fitness. The group is committed to being the premier operator within each brand by adhering to core values of genuine care for people, competitive spirit, and teamwork.
This role is for an Assistant Manager position in the upcoming new San Francisco Panera Bread cafe, which promises a positive, clean, and welcoming environment free from fryers, late nights, and alcohol. The cafe focuses on quality, health-oriented offerings, maintaining a grease-free environment that promotes wellbeing for both employees and customers. The Assistant Manager will work a 45-hour week, including overtime, with compensation ranging from $25.00 to $26.00 per hour plus monthly profit sharing.
The Assistant Manager will play a vital leadership role, supervising up to 75 staff members, and ensuring outstanding customer service, high standards of food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and overall cafe operational excellence. This role requires passion for the food and beverage industry, leadership skills, the ability to inspire and coach a diverse team, and a commitment to creating a profitable and exceptional customer experience. The candidate should have at least three years of management experience with in-depth food and beverage knowledge. Additionally, the individual should possess strong interpersonal skills and a steady, stable employment history.
Key responsibilities include managing daily cafe operations such as ordering, scheduling, labor management, marketing, bakery operations, and catering. The Assistant Manager will help drive restaurant sales and profitability through strategic planning and execution while maintaining quality and safety standards. The role involves active involvement in team member development, recruiting, training, performance coaching, and troubleshooting to prevent and resolve problems promptly. Employees in this role are expected to embody and promote the company’s culture and values, maintaining a professional image and ethical business practices.
Flynn Panera offers a compelling employment package including competitive wages, profit sharing, meal discounts, medical, dental, and vision insurance (available one month after starting), a 401(k) plan with company match, paid vacation, and development opportunities. The company prioritizes diversity, inclusion, and providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. This is a full-time position requiring a strong commitment to upholding Flynn Panera’s high standards and fostering a work environment where associates can thrive and succeed.
