Job Duties
- Assembling the breakfast buffet before mealtime and disassembling it thereafter
- Ensuring that the breakfast buffet remains well-stocked at all times
- Receiving beverage orders and directing these to the kitchen, as needed
- Providing customers with condiments upon request
- Clearing cutlery and crockery from customers' tables
- Resolving customers' queries and complaints
- Ensuring that customers vacate the restaurant by the close of meal service
- Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping the floors after each meal service
- Cleaning and sanitizing tables and countertops after each meal service
- Being attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees
- Being familiar with the organization of the Restaurants, lounges, and Room Service and knowing the function of each job position
- Having a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in applicable outlets
- Servicing guests with all food and beverage requirements in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner
- Pre-bussing all tables removing soiled dishes after each course
- Performing cashiering functions by closing checks and preparing end of shift paperwork
- Performing opening and closing procedures and side-work duties according to station rotation assignment and established checklist
- Ensuring that tables are kept stocked, tidy and clean
- Keeping all beverages full (coffee, tea, soda, water, and lemonade)
- Breaking down trays of soiled dishes and linen in the dish room according to established standards
- Answering the telephone according to standards
- Consistently upselling food, beverage and promotional items to guests
- Being familiar with fire extinguishers, locations and knowing how to use them
- Receiving and delivering food and beverage orders and collecting payment
- Serving patrons with food and beverages in a positive and friendly manner
- Providing information to help food and beverage selections
- Presenting ordered choices in a prompt and efficient manner
- Maintaining ambiance with an enthusiastic attitude
- Preparing room for dining by clothing tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils
- Protecting establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
- Helping patrons select food and beverages by suggesting courses, explaining the chef's specialties, identifying appropriate beverage pairings, and answering food preparation questions
- Transmitting orders to bar and kitchen by recording patrons' choices and identifying patrons' special dietary needs and special requests
- Keeping kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression
- Serving orders by picking up and delivering patrons' choices from bar and kitchen and delivering accompaniments and condiments from service bars
- Responding to additional patron requirements by inquiring of needs and observing dining process
- Maintaining table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to patron spills or other special needs
- Concluding dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant and inviting patrons to return
- Obtaining revenues by totaling charges, issuing bills, accepting payments, delivering bills and payments to host, and returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons
- Removing used plates, glasses, cutlery and napkins from tables after dinner is done eating
- Wiping up water spills, food stains and dirt from tables
- Straightening out the tablecloth or replacing stained ones
- Replacing cutlery and glassware in anticipation of new diners
- Refilling paper napkins, salt and pepper shakers and any other depleted condiments on the dining table
- Bringing out meal orders if waitstaff are busy
- Handling cleaning of the dining area at the close of day
- Delivering food orders to customers quickly and accurately
- Upholding sanitation and food safety principles
- Bus tables by removing dirty dishes and trash
- Checking in with customers to ensure their experience is satisfactory
- Relaying reports of customer satisfaction to the management and relevant parties
- Ensuring patrons have all the appropriate tableware they need to properly enjoy their food
- Assisting setting up tables before service with appropriate utensils, napkins and decorations
- Handling various impromptu requests from customers
- Greeting customers as they enter
- Giving customers drink menus and answering their questions regarding ingredients
- Taking orders while paying attention to details
- Preparing beverages following recipes
- Serving beverages and prepared food like cookies, pastries and muffins
- Receiving and processing payments
- Keeping the bar area clean
- Maintaining stock of clean mugs and plates
- Checking if brewing equipment operates properly and reporting any maintenance needs
- Complying with health and safety regulations
- Communicating customer feedback to managers and recommending new menu items
- Providing a pleasant drinking experience to customers
- Serving drinks while maintaining a clean and sanitary bar area
- Attending to the detail and presentation of each order
- Preparing and maintaining ingredients by following recipes
- Adhering to proper alcohol handling, sanitation, and safety procedures and maintaining appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all beverage items
- Coordinating daily supply inventory for bar and submitting orders to supervisor
- Assisting with receipt of deliveries
- Contributing to daily, holiday and theme drink menus in collaboration with supervisor
- Ensuring smooth operation of bar services during absence of supervisor
- Completing cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules including dishwashing as needed
- Assisting with orienting new employees to their work area
- Listening to customer complaints and suggestions and resolving complaints
- Instructing personnel in use of new equipment and cleaning methods and providing efficient and effective methods of maintaining work area
- Participating in and or contributing to programs, committees, or projects designed to improve quality of service and employee productivity
- Reading Banquet Event Order (BEO) and knowing how to complete a set-up
- Setting tables in assigned area correctly and uniformly
- Greeting guests and responding to requests
- Using proper in-room clearing and aisle tray breakdown buffet or other special food service tables and equipment
- Assisting in setting up/breaking down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment
- Greeting guests following guidelines set by the policies/procedures regarding the service of food and beverage
- Completing assigned side work
- Working flexible hours with days and times varying based on need
- Completing other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
- Welcoming guests to the venue
- Providing accurate wait times and monitoring waiting lists
- Managing reservations
- Escorting customers to assigned dining or bar areas
- Providing menus and announcing Waiter/Waitress's name
- Greeting customers upon their departure
- Coordinating with wait staff about available seating options
- Maintaining a clean reception area
- Catering to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly)
- Answering incoming calls and addressing customers' queries
